Well, for most of us, losing weight is about self control. Of course there are people with medical circumstances where this does not apply, but aside from that, a little self control goes a long way. Number two is to get a little more exercise. Do not go crazy but get up half an hour earlier and go for a brisk walk. You might even decide to use the exercise machine you bought over three years ago and has only been used for about 30 minutes in all that time. Exercise is easy really, just physically do a few of the things that you are currently using a machine for.
Get a push mower instead of a ride on. Wash the dishes by hand instead of using the dishwasher. Walk to the corner to pick up a paper instead of using the car. Vacuum the house yourself instead of getting a housekeeper in. Turn the television off and go for an evening walk or join a club, a gym or hobbies class. You get the idea. Substitute your more sedentary pursuits with more active ones.
The third simple way to lose weight is to worry and fret about it. No, forget that, but how about setting sensible goals for yourself that you can easily achieve. Do not use huge unrealistic steps, but little incremental advances to your goal weight. Do not cut out everything at once, but break down your goals into daily and weekly things to do.
