Cold Sore - How To Get Rid Of Your Cold Sore Fast

June 24th, 2008 -- Posted in cold sores / herpes | 2 Comments »

If there is ever anything that you want to get rid of fast it is a cold sore.

Generally these little blighters want to hide away until you have a special occasion coming up, and then you will feel that first little tingle and you know you have one that is going to be on show whether you like it or not.

Now of course there are things you can do to try and calm the sore down like applying ice or sticking some chemicals on your face that you can buy over the counter, but the whole point of this site is to avoid the chemicals route so besides ice what can we do?

Well, one of my favourite remedies for a long time has been the cold sore free routine, for which there is a link on this site somewhere, however as with anything else in life, what is one persons idea of a solution is not necessarily someone elses idea of a solution, and truth be told in the time I have been reviewing natural ways of dealing with ailments I haven’t found anything that I like the look of - until now.

Now before I go any further I have to stipulate that there is no permanent cure for Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV), once you have this condition you have it for life, so all you can do is learn to control it and thats what I have found at http://www.herpeset.com

This is a new product to the market and I really like the look of it for several reasons, which I will explain.

Fast acting - as we have already mentioned, most of the time when you get a cold sore you want to get rid of it asap. This helps to do that as it is a spray which works fast because you are bypassing the digestive tract, and it is this that slows down other orally taken treatments.

Natural- There is a full listing ingredients page available but here are some of whats in this product

  • Rhus tox: Reduces itching/inflammation associated with blisters and itchy skin eruptions
  • Apis Mellifica: Relieves burning, stinging pain and swelling
  • Baptista (Wild Indigo): Reduces mouth ulcers
  • Capsicum (Cayenne Pepper): Pain killer
  • Nitricum Acidum (Nitric Acid): Helps heal cracking and bleeding—arrests spreading
  • Pyrogenium: speeds healing of abscesses

Doctor Formulated - Not only was the person who formulated this trained in medicine, but they are also a fully trained homeopath - hence this being a homeopathic treatment.

90 Day Money Back Guarantee - If a product is any good they will always offer a guarantee (if they don’t avoid them like the plague), and this is a good guarantee - not 30 days but 90.

Their site is at http://www.herpeset.com it is very informative with a full list of the ingredients, formulation procedure, FAQ page etc…

Verdict - Worth checking out you have nothing to lose except the cold sore.

Cold Sores Explained

Cold sores are probably a more common problem than you think. However that said, it is probably a more misunderstood condition than you think. That’s why I just wanted to take a bit of time here today to give you a bit of background info on what a cold sore actually is and what you should be aware of.

As I’ve all ready said cold sores are common and although some may claim them to be trivial, I would argue that for the sufferer they are far from trivial. Cold sores are actually caused by a viral infection that attacks the skin and nervous system, hence why I do not believe it is a trivial condition, and although they are only small, they are in fact very painful as well because they are actually fluid-filled blisters that appear around the mouth or nose. One of the big things to be aware of is that cold sores are highly contagious, so if you have a cold sore, please be very careful as it is unbelievably easy to infect another person. To avoid contaminating someone else you need to avoid certain things such as kissing and sharing cups, towels or other things. Also you must wash your hands after touching the sores as they can be spread to another person via your hands too.

HSV-1, which is the most common type, usually causes cold sores (oral herpes). HSV-2 usually causes genital herpes. HSV1 can also be transferred to the genitals through oral pleasure. In the same way, HSV2 can be transferred to the mouth. However, it is possible to have a HSV-1 infection below the waist and vice versa. HSV-1 oral infections are more likely to repetitively re-occur as cold sores than HSV-2 caused infections.

Medications from a doctor can help cold sores clear up faster, but they will not prevent new outbreaks from occurring, as unfortunately once you have contracted the virus you have it for life. Medicines are sometimes prescribed but they are mainly for pain relief more than anything else.

Of course there are many different kinds of treatments available over the counter these days, which may include skin creams, ointments, or sometimes pills. Treatment may get rid of the cold sores, but it will only be 1 to 2 days faster than without using any kind of treatment, but as mentioned previously, it can also help ease painful blisters or other uncomfortable symptoms. But on the whole your cold sore is going to last for the duration.

However, there are pressing claims now for natural treatments, some of which claim to be able to get rid of cold sores in 3 days or so, and although you will always have the condition, these natural treatments claim to be able to help you control the virus so that you no longer have to suffer outbreaks. You can find out more about these treatments here if you want.
